Scott Benner
Scott and his wife Kimberly moved to Vashon with their two children in 2003. They were looking for a semi-rural community experience where the out-of-doors are literally just out one’s door, and yet Scott could commute easily to Seattle for his work as a financial advisor and lawyer. Previously, they had lived in Singapore, Seattle, and New York, although they are Oregon natives. Scott got to know the Land Trust through walks on conserved lands with constant companion Fergus.
Scott served as a trustee of Vashon Allied Arts at the time of the building of the Kay White Hall and presently serves on their endowment committee. He has volunteered with several island organizations on investment matters, including the Vashon Schools Foundation, the Vashon Community Scholarship Foundation and Church of the Holy Spirit. But Scott is perhaps best known to islanders as the guy who sometimes delivers Kimberly’s baked goods to the Burton Coffee Stand.
