40 ACRES ADDED

 Island Center Forest got larger last month with King County’s purchase of a vacant 40 acre parcel which extends the existing preserve to the northeast toward town.

Positioned close to the Post Office and just behind Roseballen, this acquisition provides an excellent opportunity to develop a gateway trail from town right into the expanse of Island Center  Forest.  Having a direct and easy Town-to-Center Forest route for the public to walk, bike, or ride is a vision the Land Trust has been looking at for several years. King County is totally onboard with the idea and plans to jump right in to partner on designing and constructing trails this year, along with launching restoration projects that will address the damaged condition of the property.
