Needle Creek Planting and stroll.
Wednesday, January 13th from 9:00 to 1:00ish
Come help us finish our Needle Creek restoration project. We have roughly 300 trees and shrubs we need to get in the ground this winter to close out our Needle Creek grant. We will be planting along the top of the ravine as well as the slope stabilization area.

If people are interested, after the project we can walk the new Shinglemill trail to Fern Cove and back.

Judd Creek Restoration Planting
Saturday, January 23rd from 9:00am to 1:00pm
This December, during the great freeze, the Land Trust and a team of hearty Earthcorpians chiseled blackberries from the banks of Judd Creek. We cleared about 7,000 square feet of blackberry total. We now need your help revegetating the site with native plants.

We have about 1300 plants to get in the ground before spring . Come help us enhance the buffer and improve the water quality in Judd Creek.

Potting party
Thursday, January 28th from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Bring your nurturing hands and help us pot up the plants for next year's planting season. We have nearly emptied the nursery and need to "refill the watershed larder."

  Property Tours

Spring Property Tours 2010
See "The Bog" - Tours of WHISPERING FIRS BOG on Saturday, May 22nd at 1pm & 2pm - each group limited to 12
Once again, we're opening up this sensitive habitat for small groups to experience the magical place fondly referred to as "The Bog". This is the first time in several years that we've run this tour in the spring. If you've seen the Bog in fall, here's your chance to catch it in an entirely different season.

No one knows this treasure better than VHS science teacher, Tom DeVries, who will provide a fascinating narrative on the unusual features and plants of this uncommon natural environment, and will explain how it came to be. Preserving this sphagnum bog launched the Land Trust - take this opportunity to see it in person.
Note that this is more of a "stand & see" tour, than a walking tour. Footing is tricky and wet - boots strongly recommended. Kids 12 and up only, please.

Each tour is $5 per family for Land Trust members or $25 per family for non-members (includes a year's membership in the Land Trust). Reserve your space at 463-2644 or info@vashonlandtrust.org.
