Work Parties 2012 -
SHINGLEMILL CONIFER UNDERPLANTING:
Saturday, February 25th, from 9:00am until 1:00pm RSVP to abel@vashonlandtrust.org
This is part of our “Saturate the Shinglemill” project where we are adding the next layer of forest to the watershed by underplanting conifers in the alder dominated areas within the watershed. We are going to be planting 2000 cedar and fir in a few areas that we haven’t planted yet. We will use the Shinglemill Creek trail to access the planting areas, after which there will be heavy bush whacking across steep terrain. This project will be a challenging adventure but highly satisfying.
As with all the volunteer events, please dress for the weather, rain gear, boots, gloves etc. I will have all the tools for the plantings. Please RSVP for this work party as this one is a bit harder to plan logistically. Hope to see you all in the bush!
